Dick Clark Architecture explained this house a inspired by the clients’ desire to live in a house that reflects their values and lifestyle, the house takes an architecturally minimal approach with simple massing, an understated material palette, and large expanses of glass.

Configured for entertainment, the glass box living area, along with large sliding doors from the dining and pool room invite guests outside onto the pool deck to take in the spectacular view of the Austin skyline. We tried our best to have as little impact on the environment as well. The house has a 3kw solar panel system, instant hot water heaters, bio foam insulation, rain water collection that irrigates a good portion of the lot, very efficient mechanical systems, and low e glass.

A-cero Architects designed this house overlooking the Miera River near Santander, Spain. The main design features of this project are the simple volumetric composition, the large glass panes, the projecting shapes that break the uniformity of the straight lines, its ample interior spaces and predominant materials: glass, wood and concrete..This house is located on a 2.204m2 plot presenting a strong slope, with a difference of height of 17m in a 55m long terrain. The site is delimited by the access road on the South, neighbouring plots on the North and East sides and a stepped walkway in the West.

The main idea behind the project is to make a house integrated within the surrounding context, oriented towards the views over the Mera river. The terrain’s slope, which could be seen as a problem, becomes a solution by designing a house closed to the North and open to the South (where the best sights are), therefore protected from the cold temperatures and open to the natural light.

Bar House by New York based architectural firm Peter Gluck & Partners is located on a deep narrow valley, bounded by a river on one edge and a road on the other. The geometrical form designed to give a sense of floating across the valley, while providing the best view to the valley from the roof-top terrace. + Project description courtesy of Peter Gluck & Partners

The simple and strong geometric shape of this house – which is a bar set boldly across, rather than nestling along, the valley floor – stands up to the rugged and majestic mountains that surround it. Despite its strength, the house is partly submerged in the ground, as if to lock it into the landscape. The views up and down the valley dominate the interior spaces, but they are tempered in different ways by the varied size and placement of the windows and the shape of the rooms. The winter weather is severe, and the sun reaches the bottom of the narrow valley only from the south. The bedrooms and the family room are located in a single-loaded corridor on the south side of the second floor. The linear program gives each room southern exposure and provides spectacular views of the valley.

The King Residence is a 4,300 square foot single family residence located in the Sunset Park section of Santa Monica, a neighborhood originally developed to house workers from the World War II era McDonnell Douglas Airplane Factory. About one mile from the beach, the structure houses Matt and Erin King and their two children.

Situated on a gently sloping, wedge-shaped corner lot, the design rejects the standard public front yard/private backyard typology, opting instead for a structure whose living spaces and bedrooms open onto a relatively large exterior patio/garden/entryway that faces the public streets and surrounding houses.
