House KvD is located in the woods of Teteringen, close to Breda. Important, from the residents point of view, was to experience the green environment in a most intense way. This ambition has formed the main concept of the building: A house that feeds in between the trees, giving every arbitrary movement a surprising perspective on the forest. The square-shaped volume keeps you, while moving through the building, in constant contact with the environment.

The Park BOX in Portland, Oregon by PATH Architecture

The Park BOX by PATH Architecture, Located directly across the street from Unthank Park in Portland Oregon, The Park Box is a two unit row house constructed on a standard 50’ x 100’ corner Portland lot. The developer and designer of the project is also the owner of the east unit.

The placement on the site provides each unit with a large private deck on opposite ends of the site, one with a large yard. This arrangement provides the most privacy while allowing for the main floor to feel like a large indoor / outdoor room with the deck perceived as an extension of the interior space.

Coffou Cottage in Michigan City, Indiana Architect by Brininstool + Lynch

Coffou Cottage in Michigan City, Indiana, USA, was designed by Chicago-based Brininstool + Lynch with a simple structural system, and was enhanced by a horizontal wood rain screen of Western Red Cedar to privatize the entry sequence on the North, and a wall of operable glass on the South.

For decades the woods and fields of Southwestern Michigan and Northwestern Indiana, with their close proximity to Lake Michigan and short travel distance from the city, have offered Chicagoans weekend reprieves from urban intensity. The owners of this cottage sought to gain a sense of privacy with their vacation property, and preferred the experience of pastoral views to the natural landscape over views to the lake waters. They were fortunate to find the land that fit their aesthetic aspirations, and subsequently desired a home that would meet their modern concept for living.
