The Park BOX in Portland, Oregon by PATH Architecture

The Park BOX by PATH Architecture, Located directly across the street from Unthank Park in Portland Oregon, The Park Box is a two unit row house constructed on a standard 50’ x 100’ corner Portland lot. The developer and designer of the project is also the owner of the east unit.

The placement on the site provides each unit with a large private deck on opposite ends of the site, one with a large yard. This arrangement provides the most privacy while allowing for the main floor to feel like a large indoor / outdoor room with the deck perceived as an extension of the interior space.

Modern Wood House Design – M + M2 House in Los Angeles

Modern Wood House Design – M + M2 House in Los Angeles. Designed by Klaus Matuschka this modern wood house is located near Los Angeles. It is surrounded by a lot of trees like oaks and cinnamon. Thanks to that the house is hidden on a small site among them even though it’s located on the highest position.

The ground floor is made of reinforced concrete and steel while the second floor mostly done in timber. The first floor consist of public areas while bedrooms and other private space on the second one. There are several terraces around the house and one of them developed especially for barbecue. This home is a perfect modern dot in the middle of a beautiful nature.

Beach Wooden House That Consumes Less Energy Than It Provides

Cannon Beach Residence is designed by Nathan Good Architect with sustainability in mind. It is located on the Oregon beach and provide more energy that it consumes. That is possible because of 5kWh rooftop photovoltaic system and 12-inch-thick concrete walls. There are also solar-thermal tubes provide hot water with a ground-source heat pump that warms and cools the air. The house is L-shaped and wrapped around Sitka spruce that’s 38 inches in diameter.

Recycled materials was used during construction and the house is designed to last multiply generations. It perfectly blends into the forested hillside thanks to its sedum-sprouting green roof. One side of the house has views of Haystack Rock while the other – views of the beach. A lot of windows also provide the house with plenty of the natural light. [Nathan Good Architect]
